Add to home screen

This site can live on your phone’s home screen like an app — same icon, same launch, no browser bar at the top. It’s free, you don’t go through an app store, and it works on both iPhone and Android.

What you get

  • A coral moon icon on your home screen.
  • The site launches full-screen, without the browser’s address bar.
  • Your saved location, your reading preference (brother / sister), and any other settings stay where they were — those were already stored in your browser, and adding to home screen does not change that.
  • The site updates automatically. You never need to install an update.

What it is not yet

This is a web shortcut, not a real app. There are no push notifications for prayer times, no background updates, and no offline use. A proper native app is planned. For now, this is the closest thing to it.

On iPhone or iPad

  1. Open theprayersteps.com in Safari. The steps below are for Safari specifically — if you use Chrome on iPhone, the option is in a different place and may not behave the same.
  2. Tap the Share button at the bottom of the screen — the square icon with an arrow pointing up.
  3. In the share sheet that appears, scroll down until you see Add to Home Screen, and tap it.
  4. You will see a preview with the icon and the suggested name. Edit the name if you want.
  5. Tap Add in the top-right.

The icon now lives on your home screen. Tapping it launches the site full-screen.

On Android

  1. Open theprayersteps.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap the three-dot menu in the top-right of Chrome.
  3. Tap Add to home screen, or Install app — Chrome shows whichever applies to your device.
  4. Confirm the name.
  5. Tap Add or Install.

The icon now lives on your home screen.

On other browsers

Most modern mobile browsers support this. The wording differs:

  • Firefox: menu → Install.
  • Edge: menu → Add to phone.
  • Samsung Internet: menu → Add page to → Home screen.

The option is there in some form on almost every modern mobile browser.

Removing the icon later

Long-press the icon on your home screen. Choose Remove App (iOS) or Uninstall (Android). The site itself stays online — you can re-add the icon at any time.

About the icon you see

The icon on your home screen is the moon. The website’s tab icon changes between a coral sun during the day and a navy-and-white moon at night, but the home-screen icon is locked to the moon until a proper app exists. When the app ships, the home-screen icon will switch to time-of-day-aware behavior like the website’s tab icon already does.
